Gordon received his B.A. from the University of Manitoba in History and Geography, and his Masters Degree in Divinity from Presbyterian College and McGill University in Montreal. Gordon has worked in federal, provincial, and Aboriginal governments for the past 25 years. He is active in his community and serves on on the Board of Children's Aid Society of Ottawa-Carleton, acts as the Elder for the Odawa Native Friendship Centre, sits on the Race Relations Committee for the Region as well as the R.C.M.P's Race Relations Committee. He has taught Aboriginal Awareness Training for the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police Service, the Calgary Police Service, the R.C.M.P., the Canadian Centre for Management Development and for several federal departments. Gordon also worked part-time with Correctional Services Canada to coordinate the services that Elders provide to correctional institutions across Canada. Gordon is retired now but remains involved with several departments and agencies providing contract services as required. His teachings include Cree Culture and he also performs marriage ceremonies.
